The next night we went, we started at about 12:00am and stayed until 3:15am. We proceeded beyond where we went the first night and followed a very overgrown, windy path. Both nights, however, none of us experienced any paranormal activity. We stopped multiple times, killed the lights, and asked the spirits to make noises...break branches, etc. Some people claimed to have heard humming, and at one point I thought I heard a scream in the distance. However, even when I heard it, I thought it may have been a neighbor nearby, considering if you look at an aerial view of the trail, there are homes nearby. I would encourage anyone who is interested in going to NOT go, because the trail is no different than walking in any other patch of woods that late at night, and the entire length of the trail has POSTED signs. The paranormal investigators told us the trail was for the public, but straying off the trail was tresspassing. Regardless, I would suggest not taking the chance. A tresspassing violation is a huge fine and could result in jail time. It's not worth it.
P.S is there any good camping spots there? its an 8 hour drive and we wouldnt have anyone old enough to rent a hotel so we would need a place to camp out at, maybe a camp site that wouldnt care were all 17.

NOTE: There are cops everywhere around the road leading to the gates, so be aware. They WILL pull anyone over who looks like they are heading towards the gates. The 7 Gates of Hell are on a private property, so if you get caught, prepare to pay the fines for trespassing.
if you type in trout road.. or w/e its called (i forget now) you see where it is (a faded drive way) the trail branches off of the drive way tword NO HOUSES... at the end you see a patch of green, where the asylum must be/have been.

I'm sorry you went through all that. It is good that you shared it. I believe you and I believe in ghosts and demons. Recently I had a bad experience at Amity Hall in Duncannon. All we did was drive past the site slowly in the car, and I suddenly felt a deep, intense fear. I'm not exaggerating when I say I was terrified. I don't even remember the last time I was so deeply scared. My calf muscles were trembling as if I were very cold. It is good that we got out of there when we did. I believe you when you say that something demonic was targeting your friend, possessing her or taking her energy somehow, I think we can never underestimate the paranormal and the cruelty of demons. I am Catholic too and have been very active in the faith. I think it is one of the best things in my life. I think you need to forgive yourself for the incident at the Seven Gates. You were just a couple of naive kids who were taken advantage of. Please don't feel guilty about your friend's death anymore. I will pray for you, your husband and friend. Thank you for sharing your story, I think more people need to share experiences like that, to keep others safe.
are the gates in order straight back? like if i find the first one and walk straight back will i go through the rest or are they scattered?
is it really 8 miles? looking at topographical and road maps i cant see how it would stretch back more than 2 miles.
anybody at all have an expirence they want to give me in detail? videos? pictures? anything is greatly appreciated!!!
email me at keithdotter@gmail.com
thank you so much in advance everyone
So Im Way Confused Everyones Talking About Gates. I Was Told They Were Tunnels. I Dont Know I Actually Experienced Things UNlike Almost Every One Else. I Was There In A Tunnel Apperently The First Gate Couldnt Find Anything Else But Anyway. We Messed Up The Fist Time Trying To Find All Tunnels We Couldn't Though. So We Went Back And re-did It Only Using The First Tunnel. We Seen My Boyfriends Cats name Appear But Nothing Else Just The Name Cole. Which IS Actually A Very Uncommon Name Considering All The Other Ones We Seen. We Heard Some Dogs Thought Nothing Of It Though. We Didnt Really Have AnythignElse Except A Da-Dumn Noice Which He ThOUGHt Sounded Like The Train. We Decided To Go Back Through Since We Had Seen The Name. So We Went Back And Decided To Give It Another Try. Honestly The First Time We Were Pulled Further Back. This Time We Were Center In The Middle Of The Tunnel. YEa It Got More Intence. I Couldnt See The Side That Said Cole But Apperently It Appeared Again. This Time After A Couple Mins. They Said They Seen Blood On It. After That We Heard Wood Crackling, Or Maybe Someone Running Through the Woods Not Really Sure. After That I Was Scared I HEard That The KKK Was Centered Around Hells Gates. Anyways Yea So Then We Heard Tabbing On The Window CLosest To The Name We Got really Scared So We Started The Car And We Heard It 4 Times In All Being In The Middle I Dont Think Anyone COuld Run That Quick But We looked Back And Didnt See Anything. When We Looked Back Since It Was Part Of The Directions We actually Did See Hells Gate Close. Idk They Saw Nothing At All just No Tunnel Nothing Was Their To Them But I Sware It look Like A Tan Almost Burned COlor Like Castle Wall It Was Crazy And I Was Scared Anyways I Was Wondering If That Is The Gate That We Went To Cause It Seems Like No Ones Saying Anything About Train Tunnels And We Didnt Know About Trails And I Think It Would Be Crazy To Get Out Of The Car In The First Place. I Was Wondering If You COuld Also Send Me The Video. They Wanna Go Back And I Read All These Experiences And Wat They Heard And We HEard It Too But Didnt EVen Realize It Was A Bad Sign. I Would Just Like To Make Sure Its Ok First. So I Was Even Wondering If Wat You Guys Are Talking Bout Is ROund Brazil I Seen Pa. Or Something So I Would Love To Get The Video To Make Sure Its Ok Up There..
7 Gates Of Hell
I would like to share my experience of the "7 Gates Of Hell", as rumor would call it. Does the "7 Gates Of Hell" really exists? I would say, it is as real as any place you have visited that is haunted or as some would say roamed by restless souls that believe they still have a purpose left on earth. I guess we could all go on arguing the point of what is real and what is not. Many stories have been told about the "7 Gates Of Hell", I won't go into all the stories because I know how things can get changed around or even blown up if you would like to read stories about the "7 Gates Of Hell" all you have to do is a search on the web and you will find many. I am not here to rebuke the stories told or to lay claim to the truth of any of them, I am only here to share my experience of "The 7 Gates Of Hell". I will, however, give you background info on how the "7 Gates Of Hell" became what we know of it today. The "truth" in the background I am not sure of. I wasn't born in the time of the mayhem, but as legend would have it, (and doing a search on it you may find the legend to be different) there once was an Insane Asylum in the mountains off of Toad Rd. bordering York, Pa. where many mental patients were held. The reason for it being so far out was for the protection of the towns people they didn't want "Crazy" people being held in a place so close to where they and there children lived. Though the town was unaware of the cruel and vial things that were being done to the patients and if they did would they care? Who can say? Anyway, late one night the patients of the asylum fought back against the staff. Many on both sides perished in the blood bath, but many of the patients escaped and ran to the woods behind the asylum. As soon as the towns people learned of the escape they feared for there lives and sent a posse out to take down what were known as the "Crazy" people. To shorten the story a little the posse chased the patients through 7 fields where blood and body parts were laid to rest on the ground. The 7th field was where the biggest blood bath accured and many people died including all of the patients from the asylum; thus, becoming the 7th gate. So... the 7 fields became the 7 gates. At the beginning of each field there is a boarder which is considered the gate, what the gates (boarders) consist of I do not know. The 3rd gate was as far as we went which I will get into later. Anyway, that is the background that I researched on the "7 Gates Of Hell".
It was about 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday night in October when 3 of us had just finished researching the "7 Gates Of Hell". At the time I lived in Harrisburg so it wasn't much of a drive for us, an hour and a half maybe 2 at the most. No one was timing this and we were all excited. It wasn't really too hard to find, we past it only once. We were driving up an old dirt road on the mountain called Toad Rd. It was very dark, as we drove along we came to a sharp corner where there was a large pull off, at the time we didn't know that was the first gate. As we approached the pull off, there was a guy and a girl standing there in the dark no car, no lights, nothing. So we continued to drive and we came to a back road that was paved and decided we must have went too far. We turned around when we came upon the sharp corner and the large pull off the couple was still standing in the same spot. I stopped and asked them if they knew where the "7 Gates Of Hell" were. They replied with, "Why its right here". I asked them if they were there to check it out as well. The guy said, "Yes we are but, we seemed to have forgotten our flashlight, would you mind if we joined you?" Being the nice people we are, we said," not at all." I backed up and pulled our car into the pull off. We got out of the car and locked the doors, flashlights in hand, the darkness still seemed to cling to us as the dome light in the car dimmed and then went out, all was quiet not a sound. We pointed our flashlights in the direction of the first gate which in fact, was two very old cow gates chained together with a chain that looked rusty enough to break if you touched it. The gates were'nt in any better shape, old rusted and leaning against a big tree you could barely tell that they once held the color of red paint or was it even paint at all? (No really I believe it was paint.) So we decided to venture on, we went around the left side of the gates and followed what seemed to be barely a path. The ground was very wet and we sunk in it as we walked. While we continued on my girlfriend held my hand, our friend beside us and the two strangers following with out looking back. I asked them where the asylum was, they told me it had been torn down a while ago. Seems the curious ghost seekers were tresspassing in the building and the land owners were afraid someone was going to get hurt so they tore it down. We continued to walk in silence, not a sound in the night, just the darkness covering over us like black ink being poured from the sky it was "very" dark. We walked a ways before we came to what is known as the second gate, a small dried up creek bed. There was a large tree down and we had to go under it to continue on, so we did. Still silence about 30 to 40 feet past the second gate you could hear what seemed to be people running in the woods. Not just one here or one there but everywhere, and faint screams that sent chills up your back then it would stop. We would walk a little more and it would begin again. I was reluctant to continue on but being the man that I am, I don't like to show fear and I pride myself on facing any fears I come up on; besides, I didn't want the girls to think I was a wimp, especially my girlfriend, she was very very reluctant to go on but I tugged her hand and she continued with me. The couple was behind us still following in silence. We finally came to what is known as the 3rd gate. How far in were we? Hard to say with all that was going on around us, time and distance was forgotten .We stopped at the 3rd gate, a line of old barrels separating one field from the other. Being that it was dark and the barrels were all but gone, we almost went past the third gate without even knowing it. When we stopped the girl from the couple behind us finally spoke, she said, "I don't think we belong here, I don't think we're wanted here, we should go back now". Her voice was soft and calm almost too calm, for what all was going on, but with all that was going on around me the way she acted was no concern to me at the time. I simply stated, I was going on and that if anyone wanted to go back they were more then welcome. I pushed through the third gate and began my walk through high grass prickers and downed trees. The path was very old and barely visible, I had to keep the flashlight on the path as not to lose it. Not to far after entering the third gate the girl behind us said, "Wait something fell on my face." Her companion was trying to look at her in the dark. I shined the flash light on her face, she was pale, I don't mean very white, I mean PALE. I saw nothing. I asked her what she felt, was it a leaf or a twig? She replied, "No it felt like water, like rain maybe" but the sky was clear and I didn't see any rain clouds on the drive here. I said," maybe it was just water or sap off a tree" and shined the light up into the trees, nothing, I didn't see a thing up there, really couldn't if I wanted to. I mean I did only have a flashlight not a spot light. I brought the light back to her face, she still looked very pale but she didn't appear to be scared. Then we heard what seemed to sound like raindrops hitting the leaves on the ground all around us, but we didn't feel nothing, not a drop. I looked toward the tree tops and the sky but saw nothing. Startled by the girls voice, I brought the flashlight back down so that I could see her face. There was no fear in her voice when she said, "I really think we should go back." I ignored her and turned intending to continue on when my girlfriend said, "What the hell is that smell?" I hadn't smelled anything and was just about to ask her what the hell she was talking about and to not start freaking on me, when it hit me, it hit me hard! The smell, the strong smell of death but not only the smell of death filled the air there was another smell there as well, a familiar one, but it didn't dawn on me at first what it was. Then all at once it came to me, gun powder, the acrid smell of gun powder. The smells were so strong it took your breath away and when I looked around everyone was either covering there mouth and nose with there hand or there shirt and the guy from the couple was using his coat. I wasn't about to let this "smell" stop me. I wanted to see more, I needed to. I wanted to know the truth. I so wanted to pass the 5th gate that supposably no one has ever made it past. I turned and pointed the flash light to the ground as the beam touched the ground, the guy behind me and myself right at the same time said, "blood." We all just stared at it for what seemed to be like 5 minutes, but I'm sure was only seconds. I said," Now wait, it may be just red leaves, lets not start spooking our selves." I reached down and picked one up and ran my finger across the surface, it smeared, it in fact was blood. I quickly dropped the leaf and wiped my hand on my pants. I then scanned the ground of the woods with the flashlight. There was blood everywhere, and I mean everywhere, as far as the beam of light could reach there was blood. I will not lie and say I wasn't scared or that the hair on the back of my neck wasn't sticking up like quills on a porkipine. My main concern was the girls. My girlfriend, her friend and the other girl from the couple. I feared for there lives and something deep inside me was telling me to get them out of there, get them to safety, get them as far from this place as I could. That's exactly what I started to do. I pulled my girls hand and she pulled her friends hand and off we went. My girlfriend took off like a race horse (looking back it was funny ,but at the time let me tell you what, there was no humor in it.) My girlfriend jumped over this log almost pulled me and her friend down face first in the path. Then the couple behind us in a very calm voice said, "Slow down, do not run, walk a steady pace but do not run." I don't know what it was but something in their voice made me listen. I didn't know or understand but it made sense . I pulled back hard on my girlfriends hand and in a very stern voice I said," Walk damn it Brandi, listen to them and walk" and I pulled hard again. She didn't want to walk but if you saw the size of me compared to her, she had no choice, so we walked a fast walk. Time and distance seemed to stand still, I lost track of both. All that was going through my head was get these people to safety. Don't be another headline in the newspapers. "FOUR YOUNG KIDS FOUND DEAD IN THE WOODS ON THE MOUNTAINS ABOVE YORK, MAN FOUND WONDERING TOAD RD. BLOOD STAINED CLOTHES, MUMBLING GOD I TRIED, OH GOD I TRIED" . Before I knew it we were back at the two gates headed to the car, the couple close behind us. The guy from the couple said Stop! We were standing only a few feet from the car and I stopped and turned to face the couple, the guy was asking me if I was ok and I said yes then he said," Shh listen." So we all stood still and quiet, he turned to face the gate and raised his left hand to his side and his fingers came up One, Two, Three when his third finger came up his companion shook her head and a shrill death cry rang through the air, it seemed to be a scream of a women. I really can't say, all I know is that my girlfriend's friend jumped in the car so fast that by the time I turned around she was already in the car, door closed and locking it. My girlfriend wasn't far behind. I started for the car and the guy said, "Wait, I want to show you something." I turned back around to face him, his hand was held out to me and in the palm of his hand was what looked to be a round piece of wire. In a low voice he said, "Take it." I looked up at him and then back down at the wire, still not taking it, I met his gaze again, he nodded, and I reached out and took the wire in my hand. It seemed to move in my fingers. Was it my nerves doing it? Still to this day I don't know, all I do know is that a chill went up my spine, my body seemed to go cold as if standing in a freezer, my eyes watered for no reason, then the wire seemed to get warm so I looked down at it again putting it closer to my face it seemed that the wire was actually a ring, a thin ring. Before I could see the design on it the ring got warmer and warmer. I handed the ring back to him but he would not take it, as if he didn't want to touch me or me touch him, who knows? Could have been my imagination, but it got so hot. I went to drop it, his hand was there in a flash to catch the ring. I looked in his eyes there seemed to be no emotion in his face or his eyes, he placed the ring on his finger. I asked him what the ring was, he said," It's my mantra." I was just about to ask him what in the hell just happened, when the girl and him, at the same time said, "Police." Not really thinking they said what I thought they said, because it seemed so out of place, I said," what?" In a very calm voice the girl said, "You better go, the police are coming and they don't take strangers hanging around here and tresspassing lightly, you better go now." I looked up the road then down the road, I didn't see head lights or sirens. I was about to tell her that, when the guy said "you better listen to her, you better go now." I got into the car started it up and backed out.I pulled away speeding the car up to about 55 on the dirt road. I know it was a little to fast for the kind of road I was on, but I needed to get the hell out of there. About a mile from the pull off I looked in my rear view mirror and could barely see the headlights and the flash from the sirens of a police car. How did they know? There are a lot of things about that place that make me look back and wonder, and that is the reason why I am planing another trip to the"7 Gates Of Hell" this time with a tape recorder and a video camera and also a digital camera. I will make it past the 5th Gate. That is my experience with the 7 Gates Of Hell take it as you will it's no matter to me and everyone has different beliefs. All I can say is if you do plan a trip there use every bit of caution that you can. Take a cell phone, make sure it works, don't go alone go in a group and stay together, let someone know your going, where its at and when you left. Do not throw caution to the wind, like they say better to be safe then sorry. So please use your head don't go into this alone or without knowing what your doing . I have always been fascinated by the spirit world, and have checked out many places and will check out many more. Which we will start posting on this site. Thank you for taking your time to read this. I really hope that if you go you take my advice. Peace.
mantra man·tra: a mystical formula of invocation or incantation.
Whatever the case may be about the existence of paranormal activity beyond the gates, I suggest you bring some firearms to use against the nutcase who chases after every person that drives down "his" road. This guy apparently just sits at his living room window and looks for curious passers-by to harass and report to the cops (at least once every weekend, according to the police officer I spoke with). I don't intend to go back, but if you choose to go - you ought to stand your ground and give this guy what he deserves.
Look up 515 Jerusalem School Rd. It is a camp- Camp Spirit. The look up the claimed area of the 7 gates. Based on what people are saying, you would basically end up at the camp if you started to follow the path. You would also be crossing multiple properties. The distance is NOT 8 miles.
It's really funny. When I was younger (ages 6-13) I went to this camp, over 10 years ago. There were TONS of spooky stories- what camp doesn't have them? We went on frequent walks to discover some scary stuff over those 7 years, both during the day and night (weekly sleepovers). The scariest thing we ever heard was a dog bark. During these many walks I cannot recall if we passed any gates but I do remember us trying to find a place that had been burned down or had a fire and was torn down. We did find a clearing that, to a child would fit the bill. Ohh...so scary. For a 10 year old!
The funniest part is now that I am looking at the map and thinking about it, we walked right by those gates...backwards. So what happens when you pass the 7th gate from the other side? Absolutely nothing!
Those screams? They might have been some camp kids. We used to have a blast trying to scare the crap out of each other in the middle of the woods at night. Who knew we might have been scaring big kids too?

She didn't want to walk but if yo u saw the size of me compared to her, she had no choice, so we walked a fast walk. Before I could see the design on it the ring got warmer and warmer .. Peace.
While we con tinued on my girlfriend held my hand, our friend beside us and the two strangers following with out looking back. I simply stated, I was going on an d that if anyone wanted to go back they were more then welcome. Someone,I think on here. said it was probably a story to keep people away from this place, which looks like backfired since people are still trying to get to these gates. if I were that property owner I would open it up to the public and charge a small admission fee.
i've heard that each gate does one specific thing.
like in the second one you get really itchy.
and in the fifth one you hear dogs and crazy shit.
i'm pumped to go sinse me and my friends just visited gravity hill and had a crazy experience.
and holy-shit...this place sounds fucking wicked~
